Law firms

Is the inquiry yours, or is it being worked by three other firms as well?

The same inquiry sold to four firms is four races and one signature. Firms rarely discover this from the invoice; they discover it from the injured person, who mentions they have already spoken to somebody.

For attorneys and firm administrators. Injured people should not use this page.

This page asks you to establish what you are actually buying today before you compare it with anything.

What it costs you

What shared delivery costs before anyone answers

  • Staff time is spent on conversations that were decided before your call connected.

  • Answering speed stops being a service standard and becomes the only thing that matters.

  • A source that looks weak may simply be a source you were third to.

  • Injured people who are called by four firms in an hour trust the fourth one least.

How it is handled

What has to be established before delivery is called exclusive

Exclusivity is a term in a scope document, not an adjective in a sales conversation. These are the parts that make it mean something.

  1. 01

    Who else receives it

Whether the record is delivered to any other firm, and whether that is written down anywhere you could point at later.

  2. 02

    Exclusive to whom

Exclusive to your firm, or exclusive within your service area, or exclusive for a period. These are different things and only one of them is usually meant.

  3. 03

    What happens on a duplicate

If the same person appears twice, what is the rule - credited, replaced, or argued about after the fact.

  4. 04

    How you would know

The record has to carry enough detail for your team to recognize a repeat without calling the person to ask.

What you hold

What you hold at the end of this conversation

  1. 01

A written statement of who receives the record

Named in the scope document before anything is delivered, so it can be held to.

  2. 02

A duplicate rule you agreed to

Written before delivery starts rather than negotiated the first time it happens.

  3. 03

    A way to check

A record format your intake can match against existing matters without a phone call.

Establish what you are buying today, then decide whether exclusivity is worth writing into a test.

Fit

Who this is for

This is for you if

  • Firms buying from a source that has never stated who else receives the same inquiry.
  • Firms whose intake keeps meeting people who have already spoken to someone.
  • Firms who want the duplicate rule settled in writing before a test rather than after.

This is not for you if

  • Firms looking for the cheapest volume regardless of who else has it.
  • Firms who want a guarantee about outcomes. Exclusivity is about delivery, not results.

Straight answers

Straight answers

Is exclusive delivery just more expensive volume?
It is a different thing being delivered, and the cost is quoted per billable inquiry once the criteria exist. Whether it is worth more to you depends on your own figures, which is why the calculator runs on your numbers rather than ours.
How would we ever verify it?
By the record. Each delivered record carries enough detail to be matched against your existing matters, and the duplicate rule states what happens when a match appears. Verification is a process you can run, not a promise you have to take.
What if the person contacted other firms themselves?
That happens, and no arrangement can prevent it. Exclusivity covers what is delivered by us, and the scope document says so plainly rather than implying more.
Do we have to decide this now?
No. Nothing on this page commits you. The four questions below take about two minutes and tell us what you are comparing against.

There is a longer piece on this subject, a written worksheet you can request, and an FAQ on criteria and cost.

Four steps

Exclusive versus shared delivery: four questions, then a decision

Each step is saved as you go, so you can stop after any one of them and we will still know what you asked about. No pricing is quoted and nothing is agreed here.

  2. 02Where you stand
  3. 03Your coverage
  4. 04What happens next

We do not sell or share what you submit here, and we do not use it for anything other than responding to your enquiry.
